Earth Day - 2020 : Is Mother Nature Claiming it Back!
Earth Day is an annual event, which was also earlier known as the Spring Equinox and was originally celebrated around 21st of March, but now United Nations has designated 22nd of April as the International Mother Earth Day, across the globe.
The Earth Day is rather unusual, due to on-going Covid-19 Pandemic, the humans are locked out. All human generated pollution of all sorts is kind of on a pause mode.
Look, Turtles are hatching in thousand in Orissa, Migratory Flamingos are returning in lakhs, Himalayan Peaks are visible form 200 Kms, birds chirping in my vicinity and animals are roaming around. Is Mother Nature claiming it back?
The Air Quality Index globally is at it's best, we are about to touch May and we can still sleep without Air Conditioner.
The Earth is healing itself, it's healing all the damages mindless human activites brought. Is this a time to reflect and correct?
As nature provided us with everything we needed and without it nothing will exist. We need to return to basics and basics doesn't mean we need to sacrifice on happiness or comfort. We need to learn to co-exist. The human race needs to understand that they belong to the planet, the planet doesn't belong to them.
We need to learn to responsibly execute our part of cleaning up the environment, taking care of rivers, planting trees and saplings, collecting and removing garbage, imparting environmental education to others to understand
the effects of climate change.
The Covid-19, may lock-us physically in boundaries but human spirit knows no boundary, let's do our small contribution towards nature, wherever we are. Let's make a change today.
21 days Lockdown in india may have to be extended: PM Narendra Modi to opposition.
