Dussehra is also another important Hindu festival observed on the 10th day (the next day of Navratri). Effigies of Ravan are burnt to signify the victory of good over evil, and fireworks are also done.
Bengalees carried Durga idols in processions and were immersed in rivers or any other waterbody. This day is observed as Vijaya Dashami.
On each other faces, Vermilion is smeared by married women, while all others exchange greetings and celebrate.
Different rituals like Aparajita Puja, Shami puja, Seema avalanghan are performed on this day.
