Bhai Dooj / Bhau-Beej / Bhai Tika / Bhai Phonta/Bhatri Dwitiya is a festival celebrated by Hindus of the Indian subcontinent, notably India and Nepal, on the second lunar day of Shukla Paksha (bright fortnight) in the Vikram Samvat Hindu calendar or of Shalivahan Shaka calendar month of Kartika.
It is celebrated after the Diwali festival. The celebrations of this day are similar to the festival of Raksha Bandhan.
On this day, Sisters display their love for their brothers, in return brothers give gifts to their sisters. Sisters pray for brother's long life - Yama duare porlo kata chanting.
In some region it is very popular and some region it is less popular. In the southern part of the country, the day is celebrated as Yama Dwitiya.
