Good Friday is a Christian holiday commemorating the crucifixion of Jesus and his death at Calvary. It is observed during Holy Week as part of the Paschal Triduum on the Friday preceding Easter Saturday and may coincide with the Jewish observance of Passover.
It is a Gazetted Holiday in India. Most of the countries observe this day and celebrate by prayer, almsgiving, fasting, etc. It is a big festival in the countries where Christian Community is the majority.
Good Friday is not a happy day because on this day Jesus was crucified, actually, it is a day of sorrow and mourning over the brutal death of Jesus and it is a reminder to mankind that the sins will be made necessary for him to die.
According to Bible, Jesus was mercilessly tortured, beaten, and finally made to carry his own Cross and crucified on the Cross.
