Important Buddhist festival held every year in the month of June or July to celebrate the birth anniversary of Guru Padamsambhav. The festival is organised in Hemis Gompa in Ladakh, 45 Km away from Leh city.
Highlights of the festival are Cham dance and Unfurling of Thangakas (Buddhist paintings). The festival is observed with beats of drums and cynabols and tunes of long pipes like Tibetan musical instruments.
On both the days big size Thanjavascript:void(0);gakas are unfurled for viewing of the public. The two day festival marks the victory of Good over evil.
