The former palace of the kingdom of Tripura, Ujjayanta Palace is present state museum situated in Agartala, the capital of Tripura, a Northeastern state of India. The palace was established by Maharaja Radha Kishore Manikya Debbarman and situated between two lakes encompasses by gardens in between 1899-1901. It was the home of the ruling Manikya Dynasty, till merged into India in October 1949. until Tripura's merger into India in October 1949. In 1972 - 73 the palace was purchased from the royal family by the Tripura Government for Rs. 2.5 million, and used to house the Legislative Assembly of the Tripura State until July 2011. Ujjayanta Palace is now a State Museum and it primarily showcases the lifestyle, arts, culture, tradition and utility crafts of inhabitants of northeast India, along with a lot of stone sculptures, the coins of the Manikya dynasty and some other artifacts. You can visit the Museum with your friends and family to gather information about the art, culture, customs of the residents of the Northeast region.
