Kailasa Temple in Maharashtra was carved out of the hill with hand tools along with 34 cave temples. It is believed that the Kailasa temple was built almost by excavation. The temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva, which is located in the 16th cave out of the 34 caves here. The temple was built in the eighth century by King Krishna of the Rashtrakuta dynasty. Kailasa temple is located near Ellora village which is considered to be one of the most amazing 'buildings' in the history of architecture. Kailasa temple is the largest monolithic structure in the world which is carved on a rock.
