Mullakkal Rajeshwari Temple, also known as Mullakkal Bhagwati Temple, is dedicated to the Goddess Rajeshwari, a form of Goddess Durga located in the heart (center) of Alleppey city in Kerala.
The temple is beautiful and full of devotion, and many forms of Goddess Durga are depicted here, making it one of the most important pilgrimage site of Alleppey. The shrine, was built by King Devnarayan of Chembagassery.
It is believed that during a battle, the king found many lost idols, the king decided to build a temple in his honor, and he surrounded the shrine with walls from all sides. There is no roof above the presiding deity of the temple, it is believed to bless the devotees of the eternal sky.
Many festivals of Goddess Durga are celebrated, with color and enthusiasm in this temple. Important festivals of these include Navaratri, Mahanavami, Vijayadashami, Thippoyakavadi, etc.
