Historically significant ancient hill fortress, Kondaveedu Fort is located in Kondaveedu, a village in the Chilakaluripet constituency of Guntur district, Andhra Pradesh, India. The site is located 16 miles west of the city of Guntur. There are two other forts nearby. It was constructed by Prolaya Vema Reddy and the capital of the Reddi Dynasty in 1328-1482. Golkonda sultans fought for the Kondaveedu Fort thrice and finally, Sultan Quli Qutb Shah finally captured it in 1579 and renamed it as Murtazanagar. The fort was earlier under French rule and then to British East India Company. Now the massive fortifications and battlements are seen in ruins only. The interior has extensive ruins of Magazines and storehouses.
