Goindwal Boali is a well that Guru Amar Das built in the 16th century. This Baoli, built on the banks of the river Beas, is a place of faith for Sikhs. Goindwal is considered the birthplace of Guru Arjan Dev, due to which this place has a lot of importance among the Sikhs. There are 84 steps in this well. And which is divided into two parts one for men and one for women? When devotees enter this Boali to have darshan, their minds will be blessed when they see beautiful carvings on the walls and pictures of all the 10 gurus. The lotus dome that covers the historic well has a gold plated pinnacle and intricately decorated domes around it which resemble the dome of a Gurudwara. It is now practiced here that devotees recite Jap Ji Sahib. And it is believed that by this lesson they get freedom from the cycle of life. There is also a belief among devotees that by bathing in Boali and drinking a sip of water, they will get salvation.
