Shri Ram Tirth Temple is located near Amritsar city and was built to honor the birthplace of Luva - Kusha, twins of Rama and Sita. Shri Ram Tirath Temple dates back to the period of Ramayana and is considered as the place for the ashram of sage Valmiki. It is the place where the sage gave shelter to Sita, wife of Rama when she was abandoned after the Lanka Victory. It is also believed that the fight between Lord Ram Chandra's forces and Lav and Kush had also been taken place at Ram Tirth. As per the mythological beliefs, the great epic Ramayana is also said to have been written here by Maharishi Valmiki. Visitors can see a hut of Goddess Sita where she gave birth to her sons and pond which is believed to be dug by Lord Hanuman and an 8 feet tall 800 kg gold plated idol of Lord Valmiki in the main section.
