Binsar Wildlife Sanctuary, 30 km from Almora city of Uttarakhand, is spread over an area of 45.59 square kilometers and is a prime tourist destination.
This sanctuary is situated at an altitude of 900 meters to 2500 meters above sea level.
Binsar Wildlife Sanctuary is a hub of rich flora and fauna.
This place is like a natural habitat for leopard, musk deer, wild cat, Chitral, fox, langur, monkey, Sahi, flying squirrel, barking deer, besides many other creatures.
The sanctuary has been declared an Important Bird Area by Bird Life International. There are more than 200 species of birds here. The main birds here include Fork tail, Laughingthrush, Eagles, Parrot, Bulbul, Neelkanth, Pheasant, Woodpeckers, etc.
Types of vegetation can be seen here, including deodar, chestnut, bulrush, rain moss, umbrella deodar, and aquatic chestnut.
Another prime attraction of the forest is the majestic panoramic view of the Himalayas, which extends for more than 300 kilometers in our neighboring country of Nepal, which is a major attraction of the Binsar Wildlife Sanctuary.
There is a government rest house inside the Binsar Wildlife Sanctuary and other private properties where you can stay at night.
The best time to visit the Binsar Wildlife Sanctuary is March to April.
