Bishnupur fair is held in Bishnupur town of Bankura district, West Bengal. It is an annual fair held in the month of Poush as per Bengali calendar. It is a four-day festival and carries the historical heritage of the city.
This fair is held around the Madanmohan temple of Bishnupur. It is organized to mark the end of the agricultural season and is celebrated together by the people of Bishnupur and the people of the surrounding villages.
Various activities also take place during the fair. The Bishnupur Mela is held with contemporary innovations and organized by an organizing committee that decides on the facilities to be included in the fair.
The various functions like a fashion show, a dog show are held. These innovations attract many visitors to the festival. In addition, the stalls at the fair represent local handicrafts and local artistry.
There are other stalls in which sweets, clothes, conch shells, pots and pans, and other items are available. The Bishnupur Mela worships the traditional music and dance of the state of West Bengal and provides a glimpse of Bengali cultural heritage to the visitors.
