The district museum of Diphu was set up by the Directorate of the Museum in the year 1886. It is situated at Karbi Anglong, only 2 km away from central Diphu.
This museum is small in comparison to the other museums of Assam under this directorate, but still, this museum shows the rich traditions and history of this place.
This museum displays objects of socio-cultural and archaeological importance. There are several pieces of sculpture also on display. The exhibits of this museum include handicrafts, textiles, hunting, house tools, ornaments, and traditional instruments, and these items reflect the culture and lifestyle of the various indigenous communities of this region.
A brilliant sculptural image of Lord Narasimha is also on permanent display in this museum.
The museum is a fine place to visit if you are in Diphu as it provides a lot of education and knowledge about this place, and you will also get to know about the culture of this place.
