Ranka Monastery is a Buddhist monastery located about 20 km from the East Sikkim district of Gangtok. It is also known as Lingdum Monastery. This monastery spread over a large area, which is the center of very panoramic views for tourists. Outside this beautiful and huge monastery, there is a market of warm clothes and souvenirs by Bhutia and Lepcha people.The Lingdum Monastery built by Jurmang Gharwang Rimpoche in 1998 as a counter to Tibetan architecture. The 15-meter-high copper statue of Buddha Shakyamuni, the 10-meter-high Guru Rimpoche statue, and the 16th Karmapa Lama statue monastery also established here at the Lingdum Monastery. If you go here in the evening, you may get a chance to attend the prayer offered by the monks and do not forget to communicate with the young monks. There is a large hostel behind it, where the child monks reside.
