Kamakhya Temple is a famous temple of India located 8 km far from Guwahati near Assam's capital Dispur. This temple is the temple of Sati, the goddess of strength. It is built on a hill and also has Tantric significance. There is no picture or idol of the Goddess in the sanctum sanctorum. It is a better place for Tantric accomplishment. It is included in the 51 Shaktipeeth of Goddess. In the sanctum sanctorum, there is only a vagina-shaped stone. This unique temple is of the vaginal form of Maa Bhagwati, that vaginal form of Goddess is called Mahamudra. It is believed that Kamakhya Devi Mata Sati's vagina fell here. Mahavidya, Kali, Tara, Shodashi, Bhuvaneshwari, Chinnamasta, Bhairavi, Dhumavati, Bagalamukhi, Matangi and Kamala are also worshiped in the Kamakhya temple complex. There is also the practice of sacrificing fish, goat, pigeon, and buffalo, as well as fruits with gourd, pumpkin fruits, which are also sacrificed. Between December to January, Lord Kameshwar and Goddess Kameshwari worshiped here as a symbolic marriage.
