Jai Vilas Mahal is still home to the Scindia dynasty and their ancestors even today. A part of it is used nowadays as a museum. It was built in 1809 by Jivaji Rao Scindia. Lieutenant Colonel Sir Michael Philos was its architect. Its architectural style is an amazing blend of Italian, Tuscan and Corinthian style. The Jai Vilas Palace is considered a symbol of centuries-old Indian culture and grandeur, preserved in modern times. The palace was constructed in 1874 to give a grand reception to the then Prince of Wales, King Edward. There are many documents and artifacts of the Scindia reign and the sword of Aurangzeb and Shah Jahan. Artworks and ships from Italy and France are also placed here for display. The palace has 30 rooms and an art gallery houses more than 5000 books. There are two large chandeliers of thousands of tons in the museum which attracts tourists. Gwalior Fort is an impregnable fort of entire South India, attracts historians and the general public alike. Come and visit this ancient historical palace with family and friends.
