One of the most prominent museums in Madhya Pradesh is Scindia Museum, also known as the Jivaji Rao Scindia Museum, located inside the Jai Vilas Palace. It was named after Jivaji Rao Scindia, the progressive ruler of this dynasty. Built-in the year of 1964 by a trust which displays the remaining documents of the Scindia dynasty and their property to their heirs. Paintings, bronze, weapons, sculptures, manuscripts, coins, musical instruments, Persian carpets, Malabar woodwork, etc. are placed for display. Two large Belgian chandeliers are the main attraction of the museum. Aurangzeb's sword is also kept for display here.
