Hajo Powa Mecca

Hajo Powa Mecca is considered as holy as Mecca. It is an important religious place for Muslims in the northeastern region. It is said that the Powa Mecca of Hajo was constructed with the soil brought from Mecca.

Powa means one-fourth is a symbol of the fact that this mosque has one-fourth the purity of Mecca, a holy city for Muslims. Built-in the year 1657, this mosque is situated on the Garurachal hill. The mosque also houses the tomb of Pir Ghiyasuddin Auliya.

Every year during the full moon, several Muslim devotees visit the tomb of Pir Ghiyasuddin Auliya to pay their respects. Powa Mecca is built very near to the Hayagriva Madhava Temple.
