Kedareswar Temple is a sacred temple for the Hindus situated on the top of Madanchalla hill, Hajo, Assam. This temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva. This temple regarded as one of the oldest temples in the Indian subcontinent.
According to the inscriptions written on the walls of the Shrine, this is a well-known medieval Shiva temple established by the king of the Ahom dynasty Rajeshwar Singha in the year 1753.
There is a giant Shivalinga in this temple, which made of stone and popularly known as the Suayambhu Linga. This form of Lord Shiva is also known as Ardhanarishwara. The Shiva Linga of the Kedareswar Temple temple is always covered by a metal bowl.
Apart from the religious views, this temple is worth visiting for history and archaeology enthusiasts as this temple is beautiful and its structure is unique, and its old inscriptions are worth noting.
There are some more tourist attractions near the Kedareswar Temple, such as the Powa Mecca mosque and Hayagriva Mahadeva temple. There is also a renowned Ganesh temple which lies at the foot of the Kedareswar Temple, hence tourists can visit both the Ganesh temple and Kedareswar Temple at the same time.
