Har ki Pauri, popularly known as Brahmakund, is known as the most sacred and famous place of Haridwar. A place where the river Ganges enters the plains after leaving the mountains.
Har ki Pauri was built by the famous King Vikramaditya in memory of his brother Britthari, who used to sit and meditate on the river Ganges. It is believed that a dip in Har Ki Pauri washes away all sins of a person.
Devotees come here in large numbers to complete some practices such as Mundan and Upanayana. After every 12 years, Kumbh Mela is organized here, thousands of devotees come here for a holy dip in the River.
Everyone comes to Haridwar for a holy dip in Har Ki Pauri Ghat and offer prayer in the temples. It is believed that without a holy dip in River the Haridwar Darshan is incomplete.
Ganga Aarti every evening is special attraction of this place. Priest holds fire bowls on their hands, bells started ringing and mantras chanted during evening Aarti. Thousands of pilgrims gather here and they float lighted Diyas and flowers on the River. The place becomes very beautiful.
Millions of peoples gathered here during Kumbh Mela held after 12 years.
