The Birla Temple is near the Birla Planetarium in Hyderabad of Telangana State of India. The temple is built on the 280 feet high Naubath mountain and is highly revered among Hindus, especially devotees of Lord Venkateswara. It took 10 years to build this temple and it was approved by Swami Ranganathananda of Ramakrishna Mission. It views both, Hyderabad and Secunderabad as well as the Hussain Sagar Lake and is one of the best viewpoints in the city, especially at night when the lights embracing the Mandir and illuminate the area, makes it a beacon of hope. The specialty of this temple is that it was made of 2000 tones of only white marbles, which was specially brought from Rajasthan. Since there is no bell in the temple, it does not disturb the peace here. Apart from the main deity Lord Venkateswara, a statue of other deities is also kept here. The idols of Shiva, Ganesh, Hanuman, Brahma, Sai Baba, Shakti, Lakshmi, and Saraswati are also kept separately in the temple. On the walls of the temple, you can see the teachings of many great men including Guru Govind Singh. The Birla Mandir in Hyderabad forms a pleasant and serene atmosphere and is a perfect place for those who wish to get away from city life and immerse themselves in prayer and meditation. Created in 1976 by Swami Renganathananda of Ramakrishna Ashram and constructed by the Birla Foundation, the Birla Mandir has been a safe haven for all those looking for a few hours of peace amongst the glorious landscape. The Mandir is dedicated to the Lord Venkateshwara of Tirumala and is in fact modeled after and is the replica of the idol of Balaji of Tirupati. The temple of Buddha containing several paintings from his life and showing a vivid picture of his history and efforts is also a highlight of the Birla Mandir.
