Durgam Cheruvu, an inaccessible lake in Rangareddy district near Hyderabad, is a freshwater lake. It is also called Gupta Lake, as it is quite hidden in Jubilee Hills and Madhapur region.
The lake has historical significance among the people of Hyderabad as people living around the Golconda Fort during the Qutub Shahi dynasty used to provide drinking water through this lake. Also, the farmers used to use lake water for irrigation purposes.
So, in old times the Durgam Cheruvu Lake was the lifeline of the inhabitants or the locals residing here. They were maintaining the lake properly since it was the part and parcel of their daily life.
In 2001, the government decided to develop the lake and its surrounding area as a tourist destination. The lake soon gained prominence as a fishing spot.
To make it a tourist destination, rock gardens, floating waterfalls, and man-made waterfalls were built here and decorated with many beautiful lights for illumination.
As fun activities, you can enjoy trekking, rock climbing, and rappelling here. So, it is a place for kids, grown-ups, young and aged ones also. You can pass time by doing fishing.
One must visit this place with family and friends and pass leisure time with kids.
Accordingly, plan your trip to the historic city of Hyderabad and spent some valuable time here in Durgam Cheruvu Lake.
