Hussain Sagar Lake has special significance in the geography and history of Hyderabad. This man-made lake was built in 1562 by Hazrat Hussain Shah Wali. The lake is built on a tributary of the Musi river. The original purpose of constructing this lake was to provide water for irrigation to the city. Though irrigation in the city is not so important nowadays. The specialty of this lake is that it has water throughout the year, and it also connects Hyderabad and Secunderabad. Around the lake is the famous necklace road, which shines like a diamond in a necklace at night. Najara is worth seeing here at night from Hussain Sagar, built in the middle of Necklace Road.In 1992, a huge statue of Lord Buddha was erected in the middle of the lake. The Dalai Lama came to inaugurate the Buddha statue. Fish culture also an added activity in this lake. You can enjoy the tide waves sitting here for a few hours. If you wish, you can reach the statue through a boat. This lake must be visited while in Hyderabad.
