Jaisalmer Desert Festival

Jaisalmer Desert Festival is held every year in the month of February in the Thar desert of Jaisalmer.

The festival takes place in the Sam Dunes situated nearly 42 Kilometers from Jaisalmer city. The event is organized by the Rajasthan Tourist Department and started 3 days prior to full moon day in the Hindu month of Magh.

This is the most awaited and famous colorful and cultural event of Rajasthan.

In this festival Turban Tying, Camel races, Mr. Desert competitions are held. The festival also showcases the rich and colorful culture of Rajasthan through cultural performances and activities.

A large number of tourists from all over the world come to attend this colorful event.

Some information tourists must remember before going to the Jaisalmer desert festival:-

1. Book your ticket well in advance.

2. Carry sufficient woolen because the temperature drops sharply after sunset.

3. While shopping doesn't forget to bargain.

4. Beware of Touts.
