Mansar Lake is a lake located in the Jammu district of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, India. It is situated 62 km away from Jammu city, fringed by dense forest, small parks, temples, and low-lying hills.
Surinsar Lake is about 9 km away from it, and Mansar - Surinsar is sometimes seen as a twin lake. Surinsar Mansar Wildlife Sanctuary is situated between these two. Both the lakes have religious significance in the Hindu faith and are popular picnic spots.
Mansar Lake is also home to two temples, Umapati Mahadev and Narasimha, and a temple of Durga. A famous tourist attraction at the lake is the shrine of Sheshnag, the Lord of Serpents.
It is visited by large numbers of newlywed couples who perform three circumambulations to seek blessings. Devotees take a holy deep in the water of the lake on festive occasions they believe that the waters of Mansar lake can wash away the sins committed.
Lake Mansar is also famous for its flora and fauna and the perfect natural environment. The lake also houses species of algae, fish, and species of waterfowl. The beautiful Mansar lake is also famous as a boating place.
