Purmandal is a village situated on the Devika River in the Samba district of Jammu and Kashmir. It is also known as Chhota Kashi and serves as a preeminent site for learning and studying ancient history.
Purmandal and the temples there is a pilgrimage site for Hindus. People believe that bathing in the river washes away all sins and purifies the soul.
The main appeal is the Purmandal temple dedicated to Goddess Parvati. There are many other ancient shrines dedicated to Shiva.
A fair is organized here every month. Devotees seek blessings by taking a holy dip in the Devika River. A total of 12 fairs are held here in a year. Each fair is given a specific name corresponding to the month.
Purmandal is a historical temple famous for its stone-made structure.
The temple is also famed because saints Kabir and Ustad Bismilla Khan were born in Purmandal village.
