Jim Corbett National Park is located near Ramnagar town of Nainital district of Uttarakhand and is the oldest national park in India. It was established in 1936 as Hali National Park to protect the endangered Royal Bengal Tiger. It was later named as Jim Corbett National Park, since Jim Corbett was instrumental in its establishment.
It was the first park to come under the Tiger Project in India. It is a glorious animal sanctuary and rich in flora and fauna. It is known for its Bengal tigers. This National Park located in the Patlidoon Valley of Ramganga in 1318. Around 54 sq. km. Jim Corbett Park has been a heaven for tourists and wildlife lovers for a long time.
Tourism activity is permitted only in selected areas of the Corbett Tiger Reserve so that people get a chance to see its spectacular landscape and diverse wildlife. The jeep safari into the dense forest to see the wild animals in their natural habitat is a must-have experience.
Corbett National Park consists of hills, river belts, swampy beds, grasslands, and a large lake. The winter nights are cold, but the days are sunny and warm. There are 110 tree species, 50 mammal species, 580 bird species, and 25 reptile species.
Here lion, elephant, bear, tiger, deer, chital, sambar, panda, cockroach, nilgai, ghural, and cheetah are found in large numbers. Similarly, pythons and many types of snakes also reside in this forest. There are many types of terrifying animals found in this wild animal sanctuary. About 600 colorful species of birds also seen in this park.
It is one such sanctuary of the country, in which birds are abundant along with many species of wild animals. Tourists from all corners of the world come to see this park.

Jim Corbett national park divided into zones where you can enjoy your wildlife safari. It provides two types of safaris Jeep Safari and Canter Safari, to help you get a good view and experience during your wildlife tour.
Here is the list of Zones - Bijrani, Jhirna, Dhikala, Durgadevi, Sitabani, and a newly introduced eco-tourism zone Dhela. Each provides the visitors with a lush atmosphere and good forest lodges to dwell.
Four entry gates act as an entrance to the park - Amdanda gate, Dhangarhi gate, Durgadevi gate, and Khara gate. Tourists can visit these gates by using Gypsies.
Some adventure activities one can enjoy like River rafting, Angling, rock climbing, bridge slithering, and Rappelling.
The major attractions of Jim Corbett are - Corbett Museum, Garjia Temple, Corbett waterfalls, Bijrani, Jhirna, Dhikala, Durgadevi, Dhela Garjiya, Sonanadi, Durga mandir temple, Sitabani Temple, Jungle safari, and Kosi river.
Jim Corbett National Park is 15 km from Ramnagar railway station, which can be easily accessed from all the major cities of India.
Best time to visit Jim Corbett National Park is during October to March as the day is quite pleasant giving a great sight of the birds and animals.
Jeep and Canter safari at Corbett is conducted only two shifts - Morning and Evening daily
