Marwar Festival is held in Jodhpur every year in memory of the romantic lives of bygone era rulers and Kings.
Like other Hindu festivals the date is finalized in the festival month of Aswin on the full moon days, comes in the months of September or October.
Wearing colorful costumes folk dancers perform in different locations of the Marwar region. Songs are also performed by renowned local singers. This festival is the remembrance of the glorious past of Rajput heroes.
The popular places of performances are Mehrangarh Fort, Umaid Bhawan, Mandore where folk performances are performed in stages.
Apart from musical events other events which attracts large crowd are Camel Tatoo Show, Polo Matches. A large turban, customary to men's attire is a cultural icon for the people of the state of Rajasthan. This custom is commemorated by the arrangement of turban tying competition, winners of which are awarded special prizes and given certificates.
Rajasthani dresses and handicrafts are famous so tourists can enjoy collecting these colorful dresses and other items at this festival.
