Bangalpukhari is a famous water tank situated near Na-Ali in Jorhat Assam. An incident is also associated with the construction of Bangalpukhari.
In the year 1739, an Ahom governor Badan Barphukan was killed by Rupsingh Bangal Badan Barphukan, was said to torture Burmese soldiers, and the people of Assam acted like a tyrant. Because of these things, Rupsingh Bangal killed Barphukan on the Sravana month of Saka while he was going to take a bath for this act of bravery, Rupsingh Bangal was awarded money, and he used this money to build this tank.
But people never use the water of this tank as they believe that using this water will bring bad luck in their lives. Hence the tank remains unused, but it has become a famous tourist destination in Jorhat.
