Hoollongapar Gibbon Wildlife Sanctuary is a great place to visit in Assam. This wildlife sanctuary named after the only Ape found in India, which is Hoolock Gibbon. It is renamed on 25 may 2004, formerly known as the Gibbon Wildlife Sanctuary.
It is an isolated and protected area of evergreen forest, and it is located in the Jorhat district of Assam. This Wildlife Sanctuary officially established in the year 1997. Artificial regeneration also used to develop a well-stocked forest in the early 1900s, which made this area very rich in biodiversity.
In this Wildlife Sanctuary, hoolock gibbons and the Bengal slow loris are found. This Wildlife Sanctuary contains the densest gibbon populations in Assam, and hence it is named after them. A rich diversity of flora can also be seen at each layer in the canopy.
It is of rare and priceless species of trees and other animals, and it is also recognized as an important bird area(IBA) situated in Assam by Birdlife International. It habitats almost 800 different species of birds.
It is an ideal place to visit for nature, wildlife, and bird lovers.
