Molai Forest is a famous forest in Majuli Island, located in Jorhat, Assam, near Kokilmukh of the Brahmaputra River. Often referred to as the One Man Forest.
It is named after Jadav Payong, an Indian environmental activist and forestry activist. Jadav Payong single-handedly took 30 years of effort to make it a 1360-acre forest reserve, which is now home to many animals.
It is home to Indian tigers, Indian rhinoceros, deer, monkeys, rabbits, many apes, vultures, and many birds.
As for flora, this forest has many trees including walcol, silk tree, cotton tree, Delonix razia, mauj, bamboo and royal poinsiana.
Tourists can spend quality time photographing the beautiful scenery in this forest or doing forest treks around this island.
