Vattakottai Fort is a seaside fort in Kanyakumari. It was constructed as a coastal defense barrack in the former kingdom of Travancore. The architect of Vattakottai Fort was Eustachuis De Lannoy, a former Dutch naval army officer. Its unique architecture defines it as a circular seaside fort that is protected by the Archaeological Survey of India. People, especially the historians, visit this site on a large scale. Different weapons were discovered from the hidden cell in the fort and are now displayed in the museum of the city. The previous structure of this fort was destroyed in the Tsunami of 2004. It was restored later on by the authorities of the Archaeological Survey of India. You come with near and dear ones and visit this place and the weapons on display.
