Situated in the grand Palani Hills of Tamil Nadu, Kodaikanal Solar Observatory, set up in 1899, is a basic piece of the Indian Institute of Astrophysics, IIAP. It was set up by moving the exercises of a comparative observatory in Madras to this site. This old observatory was initially called Solar Physics Observatory, which was later changed to its present name. A 20 cm refractor is kept here, through which critical occultation and comet perceptions are made. In the on-grounds space, a science exhibition hall, sun based pictures, and models are kept in plain view. The feature of this exhibition hall is the live sun oriented picture and Fraunhofer range sun's noticeable vivid spectrum. A library is also present inside the premises of this sunlight based observatory. Come and visit this observatory with kids.
