The capital of Nagaland, Kohima, 1500 meters high is a unique hill station with a combination of natural beauty and unique local people and their culture. Nature is as much a tourist attraction here as are the people. The town has a population of about one lakh. The roads are quite crowded during peak hours. Rampant urbanization in the recent past causes difficulty because the streets have not grown in proportion to the population. The city is dominated by the Angamis and AOs tribes who are among the largest of the 16 tribes live in Nagaland. A village walk is a must to do activity if you visit Nagaland. The famous and beautiful Khonoma village is just half an hour's drive from Kohima. Hire the service of a local guide who will explain to you about the village and many wars it fought. It has a Museum in the heart of the city. This museum is located in the Kisama village where the Hornbill festival is held. Kohima War Symmetry is a beautiful and well-maintained place built-in memory of Warriors of World War II. The Museum and War Symmetry are good places to understand the history of World War II and the role of Naga People in the war. Naga Bazar is also a unique place to visit. The food habit of Naga People is very different from others. Due to the scarcity of usual foods they are used to take forest products and animals of any kind.
