An ideal village in the outskirts of Kohima City, Kasama is a heritage village that showcases the culture, tradition, and customs of Naga people. Kasama's name derived from the amalgamation of two Naga villages, namely, Kigwema(KI) and Phesama(SA) and MA(village). The Government constructed and developed the village as a symbol of traditional Naga village and exhibits tribal Naga people's values, ethics, and livelihoods. During the Hornbill festival in December every year the Village is opened for the public for a week. During the festival time, the whole village becomes an open-air museum of Naga culture, traditions, and customs. This festival is a concerted effort of the Nagaland Government to conserve and receive the ancient tribal culture of the Tribal Naga People. It is a must-visit place while on tour to Kohima in December.
