The Birla Industrial and Technological Museum in Kolkata was inaugurated in 1959. It is the first science museum in the country under the National Council of Science Museums, Ministry of Culture Government of India, and is located at Gurusaday Road Kolkata.
It is engaged in popularizing and promoting science, especially among the youth, through various interactive models, exhibitions, educational, programs and activities throughout the year.
It also includes some vintage technical wonders such as the steam engine, gramophone, sound recorder, telephone, road roller, and a well-maintained old-fashioned Rolls Royal Phantom, Mobile Science Exhibition is the first exhibition on wheels.
There are many regular activities conducted. Some of these are 3D film show, Lost World, Coal mine show, science shows on Magic and Miracle, Surprising Chemical Reactions, Super cool Bodies, Fun Science and Firey-tale, Sky observation, and Taramandal. The 3D film show is the most attractive activity among the tourist.
Galleries at Birla Industrial and Technological Museum are Fascinating Physics gallery, Transport gallery, Motive power gallery, Life science gallery, and the Children's Gallery - it includes the kid zone, rides zone, and assembly zone.
This museum also offers the Liquid Nitrogen show, which is one of the best shows.
The museum also houses a canteen on the top floor of the museum that selling snacks and drinks, and you can try Bengali thali. It is a fantastic and worth visiting place for science lovers and children.
