Calcutta Jain Temple is also known as Pareshnath Jain Temple. It is a famous Jain temple located on Badridas Mandir Street in Kolkata and is one of the important places of pilgrimage in Kolkata.
This temple was built in 1867 by Rai Badridas Bahadur Mukim, and is one of the most revered and sacred temple of Jains. This temple is a complex of four temples Sheetalnath Temple, Chandrabhuji Temple, Mahavir Swami Temple, and Dadawadi and Kushal Maharaj Temple.
Each of these complexes has captivating architecture with mirrors, stained glass, and intricate designs throughout the structure. The structure is built-in marble with a floral sketch.
The temple complex has a museum and a comfortable reception hall that welcomes visitors. In addition, it has a garden with blocks of glass mosaics and European-style sculptures.
Another feature of this temple is that inside the sanctum sanctorum, there is a lamp which is lit with ghee, which has been burning continuously since the inception of the temple in 1867.
The temple celebrates Payushan with great enthusiasm between 16 August and 15 September, which attracts many devotees.
