Eco-Tourism Park is a located in New town Kolkata, which is designed to promote eco-tourism in the city. It is spread over 475 acres of land and includes a 100 acres waterbody with an island.
It is the largest urban park in India. All the facilities provided inside the park are designed to work against the adverse effects on nature through non-pollution and conservation of the natural landscape.
The idea of an eco-tourism park was proposed by West Bengal Chief Minister Smt Mamata Banerjee. The Housing Infrastructure Development Corporation of West Bengal coordinated with several departments and built an eco-tourism park in Kolkata. Park inaugurated by Hon'ble Chief Minister of West Bengal, Smt Mamata Banerjee, on 29th December 2012, and from 1st January 2013, the Eco-park has opened for visitors.
The park has three major parts - the Ecological Zone, the Garden, and the Recreational Area. It also has some activities which the visitors can choose as per their requirement.
It also has cottages and conference halls that can be rented for personal or business needs.
Echo Park is a beautiful respite from the concrete jungle engrossed in the city.
There are separate parks inside the Eco-Tourism Park, they are :- Butterfly Park, Mask Garden, Tea Garden, Ceremonial Garden, Bamboo Garden, Fruit Garden, Meadow Garden, Rose Garden, Sculpture Garden, and Rabi Park.
The places of interest in Eco-Tourism Park are the Urban Museum, Food Court, Lake Front Promenade, Biswa Bangla Haat, Artist's Cottage and Adda Zone, Graffiti Walls, Children's Park, and Seven Wonders of the World.
Other things to do here are gaming zones, e-bikes, eco karts, toy trains, bird watching, cycling, ice skating, paintball, boating, land and water zorbing, archery, and rifle shooting. People often come here for picnics and people who want some solitude from their busy life.
