Fort William is a famous fort in the city of Kolkata. It is located on Khidirpur road on the eastern bank of the Hooghly river. It was also known for its stunning architecture. It built in the year 1696 and was named after King William III.
This fort was the first stronghold of the British in the country. The citadel is a magnificent structure that spread over 70.9 acres. And the whole tower is embellished with hundreds of arched windows that overlook beautiful lush green gardens.
The surface of the building adorned with meticulous stonework, which took almost ten years to reach completion. However, soon it realized that this building had a few loopholes, and hence a new octagonal building was constructed, and Sir Robert Clive laid its foundation.
