Kolkata Race Course is the largest horse race venue in India. It is situated in Hastings, Kolkata and built in the year 1820, and was maintained by the Royal Calcutta Turf Club.
It is a must-visit place in Kolkata, and at this place, visitors get the taste of the elite and royal side of the city. You can also see a polo ground just adjacent to this Race Course, and this polo ground considered to be the best in the country.
This Race Course gives a perfect reminder of the colonial era and opulence of the past times. It is conducted races from November to March and July to September on Saturdays and public holidays.
Polo matches are also organized by the Royal Calcutta Turf Club, during the off-season.
There is a beautifully manicured lawn and gardens inside the complex of the Race Course, which is also well maintained by Royal Calcutta Turf Club.
