Presidency University, Kolkata, West Bengal

Established in 1817, Presidency University is a public state university, earlier Presidency College, it is recognised as National eminence Institution by UGC.

Presidency University is a public state university situated in college street Kolkata. It is also known as Hindu College and Presidency College. This university was established in 1817, and it is probably the oldest institution in India that has no religious connection.

This institution got the status of a university in 2010 after functioning as one of the top constituent colleges of the University of Kolkata for almost 193 years.

In 2017, the university had its bicentenary celebrations.

Founders of the university are Raja Rammohan Roy, David Hare, Sir Eduard Hyde East, Raja Radhakanta Deb, Baidyanath Mukhopadhya, Rani Rasmoni, and Rasamay Dutt.

The university is also approved by NAAC and affiliated with UGC and AIU. The building of the university is quite large and beautiful.

It is one of the best universities in India.
