Kerala Village festival showcases the culture, tradition and life style of the people of Kerala. This 10 day long festival held every year on the Kovalam beach. This festival recreate the village or Gramam of Kerala. Gramam, the Kerala Village Fair is set up at the Kovalam beach and in the Marine Drive in Ernakulam also.
In the festival Village of Kerala or Gramam is created. The Gramam includes i) homestay of traditional upper class of Kerala, called Nalukettu, ii) The village Teashop, Chayakada and iii) the artisan's enclave called Kamalagramam. Nalukettu attracts visitors in large numbers in the fair.
The quadrangular mansion is made up of wood and tiles. The house is decorated nicely with items of bygone era, which includes exquisite paintings, sandalwood, ethnic jewellery, charming curios and all are displayed in the Nalukettu. The most salient feature of the Nalukettu is its big open courtyard.
Another interesting attraction of Gramam is Artisan's enclave or Kamalagramam where tourists can see the traditional art works like jewellery, handicrafts etc.
The focus goes to the open air auditorium in the evening. In the auditorium cultural programs are held. Dances like Mohiniyattam, Kathakali are performed by the reputed artists. The folk dances of Kerala exhibits the life style, culture and tradition of the people of Kerala.
