The Kalpana Chawla Memorial Planetarium has been established at Haryana State Council for Science and Technology at Pehwa Road, National Museum of Science, Haryana in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture, built it in memory of Dr. Kalpana Chawla, India's first female astronaut. The planetarium, built for 6.50 crores, covers an area of 5 acres of land. Surrounded by lush green fields and bustling Astro-parks, the planetarium is ideal for those who are deans and dusters of big cities, looking to escape the hustle and bustle. The planetarium offers a mix of peaceful surroundings and astronomy, shows using the latest technology tools. In a very short period, the planetarium has emerged as one of the city's unique and most preferred tourist destination. Excellent programs and supporting demonstrations placed in and inside the Astro-Park are specially designed for students and help people learn this frontier field of science and complete with a full range of information about space. Astronomy shows are generally run in the Hindi language, and special programs in both Hindi and English languages are also organized on demand for groups.
