Ghangad Fort has its location at a distance of 100 km from Pune and 30 km from Lonavla-Khandala Road in Maharashtra. The fort was built for keeping prisoners and for watching on the trade route from Pune to Konkan at least 300 years ago. Later, the fort was part of the Maratha Empire and British Rulers. Shivaji Trail Group restored Ghangad Fort with the help of local villagers in 2011-12. The fort has two gates - the main entrance gate with the arch missing and a rock-cut water cistern on the way to the second gate. The water is available throughout the year for drinking purposes. The villagers have placed an iron ladder to climb to the Balekilla of the fort. You should come and visit this historic fort. It will take about an hour to visit all the places on the fort.
