Bara Imambara is a historical monument of Lucknow. It is also known as Asif Imambara as it built by Nawab Asaf-Ud-Daula of Lucknow in 1784. It is one of the most outstanding buildings of Lucknow. There is also a shrine, a maze - i.e, the whirlpool, a well with stairs, and the Nawab's tomb in the complex adorned with a domed figure. The architecture of Imambara exhibits the typical Mughal style, which is very similar to the Badshahi Mosque of Lahore in Pakistan, and it is considered the world's fifth-largest mosque. The main feature of the design of this building is that no iron is used anywhere in it nor does it include any European style architecture, The main hall of this building is 50 X 16 X 15 meters with no support installed on the roof, Bara Imambara known for its labyrinth where many confusing paths are connected, there are a total of 489 doors. There is a mosque in this Imambara where non-Muslim people are not allowed to enter. There are two high towers in the courtyard of the mosque complex.
