The Husainabad Clock tower is located just opposite the Husainabad Imambara and is just a short distance away from the Rumi Darwaza. It is about 67 meters or 221 feet high tower, one of the tallest buildings in the country.
It was built in 1887, designed by Rascal Payne. The tower is a splendid example of Victorian-Gothic style architecture in India. Its construction was started by Nawab Nasir-Ud-Din, to welcome Lieutenant Governor George Cowper of the first United Provinces of Awadh. Due to his death in 1887, this work remained incomplete.
The clock needles in this clock tower made of gunmetal which was brought from London's Ludgate Hill. The fourteen feet long and one and a half-inch thick pendulum is larger than the Westminster Clock. Around this Clock tower, there are bails on the shape of the flower petals.
