There are many Moti Mahal across the country, many of them are restaurants and hotels, but Moti Mahal of Lucknow was the residence of the Nawab of Awadh. Moti Mahal means- Pearl Palace, is located on the banks of river Gomti on Rana Pratap Marg in Lucknow, very close to the Hazratganj area and is located just a short distance from the stadium. This place was named Moti Mahal due to its whiteness. Moti Mahal was built by Nawab Saadat Ali Khan so that his family could sit here and watch the fighting of the animals, often on the other side of the river. The Nawabs of Awadh used to be bird lovers. Many types of birds are seen from this palace. However, it believed that this palace was built to keep a close watch on the tricks and actions of the enemies. Whatever be the reason, Moti Mahal is a beautiful building in Lucknow. Apart from this, the Nawab also built two other palaces here, which are known as Shah Manzil and Mubarak Manzil.
