Shah Najaf Imambara is located in the middle of the city on Rana Pratap Road and one of the famous tourist destinations in Lucknow.
It was built by Nawab Ghazi-Ud-din Haider, the fifth Nawab of Awadh, in 1816-17. As per his wish, his three wives Sarfaraz Mahal, Mumtaz Mahal, and Mubarak Mahal were buried with him in this building.
This magnificent building has a large shrine with a white dome surrounded by a wall on all sides and situated on the banks of the Gomti River.
Presently, Saharanganj shopping mall is located near this building. The feature of this Imambara is that its building is very similar to Imam Hazrat Ali Rausa, located in Najaf, Iraq.
The central hall of this building is decorated with many historical paintings and other memorabilia.
