This Atal tunnel, horseshoe shaped single tube, double lane bi-directional highway tunnel will connect Manali in South and Lahul and Spiti valley in the North.

At an altitude of more than 10,000 feet, Atal Tunnel (named after former PM), has been constructed whose length is 9.02 km.

It is the longest tunnel in the world at a height of more than 3000 m.

This horseshoe shaped single tube, double lane bi-directional national highway tunnel will give all year connectivity between Manali in the South and Lahul and Spiti valley in the North.

The tunnel is built by Border Roads organization with new and latest technic, and it reduces the Manali and Leh distance by 46 km.

The tunnel is dedicated to the nation on 3rd October 2020.
